Seems that adding quests created by players was a good idea considering that CoH and now SWG are doing it...Now if I could only come up with something that AAA titles could copy...
How about working on some innovations in procedurally-generated content? You could generate quests that don't really look like quests as we know them today. For instance, finding a magic scroll with a name at the bottom, then running into someone who mentions that name in conversation, who heads off into the crowd to be followed by the player...
